Those syllables will sound against my skull, to echo and overlap until they're dull Being alone wasn't always easy. Sol usually could cope, finding entertainment to keep his mind off the real problem. Long, limber legs carried him through his territory. Although Sol was quite boney, no doubt did he have muscles, you could see them as he moved. Somehow, his towering height and powerfull looks scared others away. As they should, in fact, Sol had just chased out a pair of coyotes. One of them with more than just a few minor cuts. His territory was all there was to his name, and most likely all there ever would be, the rate things were going. No mate, no pups, and bordering five years old? By the time his father had been three, he had already fathered three litters. Yet, here Sol was. Aging faster everyday. The male maned wolf let out a husky sigh, as he continued his slow pace towards the stream. Ah, the stream. One of Sol's favorite places. The place in his territory with the coldest water, too. It also amazed him at how many different creatures could live in and near the stream without disrubting eachother. Craning his long neck downward, Sol began to lap at the diluted water. To blend in with the hum inside the walls, and I'm inviting you to be white noise. Words: 200.

Poppy bounced through the long grass that surrounded was around the plain, her claws extended into the soft dirt that was around the center of the rise in the creek. She was trying to find something to eat, anything. Even a squirrel would taste great at the moment, she blinked a few times as her eyes adjusted to the light that was filtering through the grass that she was well hidden in. Her soft amber coat was burning from the heat but it was a comfort to be warm, because she was always cold at night without her mother and father, it wasn't temperature cold her brother and sister were warm enough it was just how she took up all the space and she always felt safe with her around. Twirling her ears around she tried to find something apart from the bubbling river to eat.
But being the cub she was a flash of silver parted into the river and her attention was immediately snapped, bounding through the river water splashed through her coat. Ending on the other side of the river she chased it along, giggling and pouncing on whatever moved. Sure it was a waste of time, but it was fun. Poppy stopped for a moment when a dash of movement caught her eye and flashed back into the long grass at the side of the river again. Without a thought she followed directly after; she burst through the break in the long grass as the mouse scampered through long legs it was too late for her to stop before crashing into a warm mess head first.
Recoiling in surprise her hackles went up, Grey eyes flashing as she hissed. Sure it was about as scary as a herbivore trying to catch a lion but still it was her only defense she had and it had worked well so far, she suddenly wished her brother was here. He always knew what to do and how to act around others.
