PANDORA
Pandora crept from her hiding spot among the trees, her nose tilted to the air. Her nostrils flared as she took in a few sharp sniffs, and then repeated the motion when she dropped her nose to the ground. When she smelled no scent of an enemy, she rocked back onto her hind limbs and stood on two legs. A brief look around gave her the understanding it was safe to continue. The young bear heard running water up ahead, and where there was running water, there was fish. And where there was fish, there was her favorite meal. As she went along, however, she picked at the foliage around her. She wasn't certain she would catch anything, her skills were still mediocre at best, so to pick up any roots or berries she found along the way would be a smart idea. As Pandora neared the river, she became excited. To her far right she could hear a great waterfall, but she also began to smell fish. She grunted and set forth at a foward jog toward the river, hungry and in need of a good, flesh-y meal. When she reached the river, the young bear stood at the bank for a few moments and stared at the water. She put a paw in, and discovered that the water was rather cold. She looked back and forth, searching for danger, and then focused her eyes and nose on the river. She could see the fish swimming through in abundunce. Her mouth parted and she entered the water. Splash! She missed her first attempted, growiling as she did so. There were so many fish, and the water wasn't deep, the current wasn't strong, so it was silly for her not to have caught it. She hated her age and her size. It troubled her so. Splash! She missed on her second attempted, and emitted a roar this time. Even after only two mere misses, she was becoming impatient and frustrated with herself. What would she do when there was few fish to catch, when she could not catch any when they were plentiful? So on her third try, she used a different tactic. She rocked back onto her two hind legs and stared at the water, waiting. When a large fish came within range, she struck. She dove into the water, mouth open, claws out. She felt flesh in her mouth and bit down hard, and then moved her front paws around her catch, clutching it tight. Pandora resurfaced and rocked back, falling onto her rump. She sat in the water, wrestling the dying fish before finally it lie still. She then adjusted its position in her mouth and brought it over to a rock in the middle of the river, climbed up, and placed her prize in front of her. She laid down behind it, and then eagerly dug in. Ahhh, the sweet taste of success. Total Word Count: 506

Sitting hidden in the sadows away from sight Cassie lay in wait, she knew that this was an area where wild animals often pass, and with oe luck she would b able to catch someone and feed her growing hunger. She growled slightly at the reminder of the Manned wolf that had intercepted her line of hunt while she was hunting a rabbit before. Then sighed. But what had come into view was not what the wolf had bargined for. As nature and most know, wolves and bears are natural born rivals, so to have a bear come across a hungry wolf would not be good. But the bear had the right idea, it went down to the waters edge and thrashed about rearing and landing several times before acctualy capturing a prize. Then it took it and started to eat the fish, the bear seem content to the kill, so Cassie took her oppertunity and made a move. Lowering herself to the ground the wolfess crawled out from the shadows and started forwards, but tried to give the bear a wide birth, just incase it was a grumpy one. Keeping her ees on the bear she crawled in the opposite ditrection so that she was further downstream to the animal. Surely the bear would eventually catch the wolfess's scent and possibly chase her, but this bear was still quite young, so Cassie seemed slightly less scared at that. When she knew that she was clear of the bears range Cassie rose back onto standing position and looked around air scenting to see where there would be an easy kill. Picking the scent of an already made kill, the wolf licked her lips in anticipation.

PANDORA
Pandora ate slowly, saving the flavor of the fish. Her mother had scolded her for this once, eating slowly, but she couldn't help it. The salty, juicy, taste, she couldn't just gulf down. So she sat on her rock, fish resting on her left paw, right paw resting on the tail end of the fish, eating slowly. But she was doing her best to be aware of everything around her. She would pull her nose up and away from the sharp smell of dead fish and blood and turn it vertical to sniff the untainted air currents. Or she would tilt her head until her ears were vertical, listening. For a while, she heard nothing, so she ate in content. Slowly, of course, pulling the flesh away slowly and swallowing it without chewing. But then she caught something, when she moved her nose to sniff the wind. It was faint, mixed in with the scent of tall grass but it was there and it was close enough to make the hair on her back end stand up. Wolf. she thought to herself, but turned down her nose to her food to continue eating, looking casual. This was something, being discrete, that Pandora prided herself in being good at. It's how she stayed alive. She angled her head to the side again and listened, tearing a piece of flesh off the fish with a bit more fervor. After one more sniff of the air she confirmed it was a wolf, and it was close. So she made a plan. If the wolf attatcked, she would make one stand to be defensive. If the wolf kept coming, she would run. She knew the bear was the better swimmer, she knew she could get away. To stand and fight would be stupid, when this river was full of fish. The scent was fresh. and made Cassie's stomach growl, as she waited. Air scenting to make sure that the owner of the kill was not around, she picked up the scent of an annoying little animal that she hated. Jackal. Lowering into a crouch she stalked forwards away from the waters edge and into the long grass. The grass would conceal her well from view, so she could pounce on the animal and then feast on both if she was lucky. She paused, knowing that she was only feet away from bother her prize and another to-be-kill. Raising her apex and moved her auds, they searched for soundwaves of the young bear that she had spotted earlier. It seemed to not have noticed her, or may have just ignored her. A small scratching sound made the wolf refocus on the Jackal. She moved in. The animal had its back to her, so this was adecent oppertunity for Cassie, she got close enough and was about to pounce, when a sound from the left of them made the animal spin and look straight at Cassie, she delayed half a second, but that was too long, the animal was already sprinting away. She lurched to her paws and shot after it. Cassie let out a loud growl, that carried. She could hear the animals' menacing snickering, and that only spurred the wolf on further, she put as much power as she could into her run, then caught up with it. With a snarl, Cassie's muzzle curled back over her teeth and exposed her sharp enamels for the Jackal, - who now had his ears pinned to his skull, and eyes wide with terror- to see. the animal barked and whimpered scared, asking for mercy. Mercy? If I let you go, you are soon to be caught by a bear! she taunted the animal, even though it was not her nature. She growled at the animal. unsure if the bear had heared the commotion.

PANDORA
Pandora continued to eat slowly, but it was now not to merely savor the flavor of the fish. Now she was listening, and listening intently. With each piece she swallowed and listened, and then would turn her nose to the sky to take a whiff. The wolf was still nearby, but now there was something else, something...unidentifiable. At first, this so-called "unidentifiable" smell made the hair on the back of Pandora's neck stand up. She searched her mind for a match to the smell, and it took her a while to realize: jackal. Or, in other words: lunch for the wolf. In a way, Pandora was relieved. This would take the focus off her, and she would be able to eat in peace, at least for a little while. And then there was a great commotion that startled the young bear. It was a loud wolf-growl that sprang her to her feet. Pandora grabbed the fish in her mouth, using her eyes and ears to explore the commotion further. There seemed to be a scuffle, and then silence. Then there were whimpers, begs for mercy. Mercy, from a wolf? Pandora thought to herself, putting her fish down and realizing in the back of her mind there was only one good bite left. She took that last bite and continued her thought: That poor soul. But then she heard the wolf's reply, which both intrigued and angered her. Mercy? If I let you go, you are soon to be caught by a bear! A dry threat. Pandora was in no shape to take on a healthy jackal, even one weakened by an attack would be a rigorous pursuit. Something inside of her twisted, made her want to respond, even though she knew she shouldn't. "I am not fond of the taste of jackal," she roared in her deepest fashion, still quite young. "Too scrawny around the leg. Beg for mercy as you please, there are no other bears here." Pandora was well aware she had crossed the path of a wolf, and began looking for escape routes. She knew she would gain time over the river, but from then on, where? Word Count: 390

Staring down at the Jackal, Cassie felt something tug at her, and with a flick of her auds she changed her mind and lifted her paw slightly from the animal, when a sound made her spin. A brown figure filled her view, a bear. Cassie lowered her head and bristled her furs, muzzle curled back over her teeth. Letting go of the Jackal, she stared at the bear Well, that is one differance between the two of us. she replied to the bear, They acctually taste pretty good she muttered with a glance at the Jackal that was boloting away. Her orbs flickered back to the bear and she lashed her banner in protest and she side stapped slightly in a way to move and to get a distance between the two of them that was slightly larger. What to you want bear?! Cassie growled through her teeth, the bear was still quite young, but CAssie knew that even then some damage could be inflicted. So backing away slowly, then the scent of the kill reached her nose again and CAssie closed her eyes to absorb the scent, once she was rid of the bear, Cassie would go and eat. Why was the bear there anyway, she thought she had given it a wide enough birth, and didn't want a face-off. Cassie sighed and glared at the bear.

PANDORA
Pandor watched with a sense of satisfaction as the wolf let the jackal dart off into the distance. She took the brief time that the wolf turned to watch the animal as it ran away to take a few steps back, keeping a good few yards in between them, her eyes glued on the wild dog. The wolf was upset, there was no doubt about that, and the closer she was to the river, the safer she was. What do you want, bear?! the wolf had growled at her, and Pandora remained quiet momentarily. "Would you enjoy being tortured in what you believe to be your final moments?" she finally asked, her tone steady. There was no hint of accusation, there was no anger or offensive tone. She did notwant to stir any further conflict than what had already begun, what she feared was already too much. What she did do, however, was keep herself looking as tall as possible. Her head was held up, her legs spread apart, and she showed her threateningly long claws. If anything, she could be an intimadator, just a little one, until she could reach the river. But she made no aggressive gestures, she just stood there, attempting to look tall and somewhat ominous. Word Count: 232

Cassie gared at the bear in sheer annoyance. You come here and interrupt me when I'm trying to make a kill.... her voice slipped on the last word. Tourtured? Cassie repeated to the bear at it shuffled. Cassie errected her banner and poofed out her furs, as her yellow orbs stared the bear down. Leave now please. Cassie said with her auds forwards, not wanting to attack the bear or fight it. She just wanted to be able to eat the carcass in peace, so that she could regain her energy that was now being lost in the stand-off. The wolf growled and licked her muzzle rappidly and jerked about showing that she was not comfortable with the bear being there and being with her. The animal didn't seem to be wanting to fight either, so Cassie slowed and looked it over. Then she rocked back onto her haunches and said nothing for a while. The bear wanted to seem intimidating, but Cassie knew all to well that this bear was not up for a fight, so she did nothing towards it.

PANDORA
Pandora eyed the wolf and nodded her muzzle. "All right, wolf," she answered quietly. "I will leave." Her eyes fixed upon the canine, and began to back up slowly. Her ears perked foward, every sense set upon the slightly smaller animal. Though the wolf seemed set on avoiding conflict, Pandora had learned not to trust quickly, especially not other predators. And so she kept all defensives up, even long after the tall grass had enveloped the view of the wolf by a few feet. When she was about two yards or so from the river, Pandora turned and loped toward the waters, though she listened for any sounds following behind her. When she found there were none, she slowed as she splashed into the water, in search of another fish. And though the aquatic creatures were practically swimming into her legs, it would take Pandora four or five attempts before she finally caught another. Slightly discouraged but highly satisfied, she returned to the rock where she had originally dined, and hoped this time her meal wouldn't be interupted. Word Count: 198

Watching the wolf with hard eyes, Cassie stood strong. The bear soon decided too then left. After the bear darted into the water Cassie chased after till she was at the waters edge, then let out a howl. The bear would hear this, and even though they did not fight or argue much, she would have learnt her lesson about wolves maybe. Cassie sighed then turned and went back to where the left kill was. Now hopfully she could eat in peace. With a flick of her banner, she walked a circle around the carcass and then lowered her body to the ground and licked her muzzle. Drawing in a breath she then sunk her teeth into the carcass and moaned as the sweet taste swamped her mouth. At that moment she was letting her guard down with out knowing it, for all he knew, the owner of the kill may come back at any moment, and she would not notice until it was too late.
